What the Card Includes (and What It Doesn't)

The headline is simple: free admission to about 80 museums, monuments, castles and Royal Residences across Turin and Piedmont, plus reduced rates at roughly 50 more. What earns this page its slug is the detail — which doors matter, and the two exclusions the sales pages whisper.

The doors that carry the card

• The Egyptian Museum (Museo Egizio): the world’s oldest museum of Egyptian antiquities and the most important collection outside Cairo — Turin’s one unmissable ticket, free with every tier. Book the time slot; the playbook.
• The Royal Museums circuit: the Royal Palace, Armoury, Sabauda Gallery and archaeological collections in one royal complex — half a day, one card tap.
• The Cinema Museum in the Mole Antonelliana: Italy’s national film museum inside the city’s symbol. (The panoramic lift is a separate ticket — a small, honest asterisk.)
• The Residences ring: Venaria’s Versailles-scale palace and gardens, Stupinigi’s hunting lodge, and the Piedmont castles — the reason the 3- and 5-day tiers exist.
• The working list runs to ~80: MAO’s Asian art, the Automobile Museum, Palazzo Madama and decades of smaller doors — the board recommends booking admissions online with the card.

Trap one: transport is NOT included

Unusual among Europe’s city cards and worth bold type: trams, buses and the metro are not covered. Card holders can buy a reduced multi-day transport ticket — but only at the Turin Tourist Office — and the Arriva airport bus gives a reduced fare on the card. The consolation is genuine: central Turin is a grid of porticoes and piazzas that walks beautifully, and the Egyptian Museum, Royal Museums and the Mole stand within fifteen minutes of each other.

Trap two: the Monday

Most museums close on Mondays — the board’s own FAQ says so plainly. The card’s clock doesn’t pause for it, so a card spanning a Monday buys a rest day whether you wanted one or not. Start the card Tuesday–Saturday; the tier guide folds this into each itinerary.

The child policy, because it changes family math
